WITH reference to the story in Tuesday’s Argus on animal cruelty, how can RSPCA Inspector Gary Lucas believe that a six month suspended sentence and £500 costs reflect the severity of the crime of beating to death defenceless animals? This was a hideous premeditated crime. When will our justice system demonstrate that cruelty towards animals will not be tolerated?
