THE Government is in disarray over the Same Sex Marriage Bill, as they’ve announced another U-turn on the Bill. They will hold a review to decide whether heterosexual couples should be allowed to opt for a civil partnership rather than marriage. That would cost the nation between £3bn and £4bn in public service pensions alone.

Amendments to this Bill have been put forward (at the Third Reading of this Bill on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21) so that people who disagree with this Bill are not prosecuted or lose their jobs if they oppose it. The Conservatives and Liberal Party have allowed their MPs a free vote at this stage, but the Labour party leader Ed Miliband, in an outrageous attack on freedom of conscience, has ordered his party not to vote for these amendments. That’s right. Mr Miliband has enforced a three-line whip against amendments which would protect people who believe in traditional marriage, giving the impression that there is no room in the Labour Party for people who believe in traditional marriage. While the rest of us struggle to pay our bills, the political elite are unpicking marriage rather than sorting out the economy. This Bill is about unravelling the place of marriage in our society, regardless of the social or financial cost. What does this tell us about our political elite?
