SO Gez Kirby says Caerphilly council leadership has apologised for past nefarious activities, so that’s all right then, but besides the behind-closed-door decision to award huge pay rises to executives and besides being illegal the rises still stand!
Will they also apologise for giving top execs an undisclosed lump sum to give up their travel allowance but not junior staff, bearing in mind some senior people still claim the allowance, and I understand the very auditors who gave this scheme its blessing are investigating their own decision.
Compare and contrast, while quality jobs are lost at Rowecord and decent people through no fault of their own are out of work, we have senior council executives filling their pockets with public money and closing old-age pensioners’ homes.
At one time these people tried to justify the bumper pay awards by saying they had to recruit decent staff and to compete with the private sector, but they never seem to lose their jobs like people in the private sector.
