IT IS sad to hear of the closure of Atlas Elektronik UK at Queensway Meadows, not least for me because I work there.
The site opened in the early 90s to carry on making specialist cable and cable system products previously made at STC at Wednesbury Street, in fact much of the equipment and most of the employees were moved from STC.
STC closed years ago, and the closure of Queensway Meadows now sees the end of well over half a century of cable manufacturing in Newport.
