I’M writing to inform you of my experience with the emergency services and A&E department at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, South Wales.
My husband fell during the lunch hour on Tuesday May 22, suffering severe injuries I was not equipped to deal with.
Upon finding him I called 999. I was assisted by a calm young lady who helped me see through my panic to ensure my husband was stabilised. I was touched that she remained on the call with me while I waited for the paramedics.
I was impressed it took less than ten minutes for the paramedics to arrive, who were extremely proficient upon arrival.
My husband was directed to our local A&E department, at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
I cannot find words to express my gratitude for the service we received upon arrival, and during our stay.
I must stress this is a significant factor to this story, as my confidence of the NHS had been knocked from a previous experience and to say I was nervous is an understatement.
The staff of the A&E department surpassed my expectations, and demonstrated exemplary service to my husband, daughter and I. Thank you all that helped.
