AS Blaenau Gwent Council are part of the “Greater Gwent Anti-Poverty Group”
I wonder why they have voted at an executive members’ meeting to increase school meals by 10p, especially as “low income families who are not eligible for free school meals will be incurring additional expenditure?”
The hypocrisy is obvious, as is the lack of any empathy towards the poor! (To be expected from a council that made millions worth of cuts in aid of the Con/Dem Government’s misplaced “austerity” programme!) As Blaenau Gwent Council’s school children are given meals costing just 68p to produce, I wonder at the quality and the nutrition benefits of the meals?
Perhaps the executive members could tell us how much they earn per year and we could compare it with workers who have to work for a pittance? (Has the council introduced a living wage for its poorly paid workers?) Do they know the meaning of the word socialism?
I guess not!
