I FIND the  idea of MPs having a pay rise to £70,000 a year while the rest of Britain is in the middle of a recession and putting a cap on benefits and public sector workers appalling. I have said I would stand at the next election, but for £70,000 is any MP worth that?

I certainly don’t think so.
There are people in poverty and unable to afford to buy food while our political masters give themselves a pay rise. The Chancellor is quoted as saying: “We are all in it together.” Some more than others.
These politicians really have no idea how people in Gwent or surrounding areas live from week to week. Having to live on £70 per week on benefits and depending on food banks in 2013 I find deplorable. I wonder will our MP be taking a pay rise or not? It will be interesting.
His leader Ed Miliband, according to a national newspaper, will “view any rise for MPs in the light of the climate of economic austerity”.
