Money travels

HAVE just researched the amount this Government spends on foreign aid; an astonishing £7.8 billion pounds; that equates to £500 per head of our population. Afghanistan alone receives £250 million; a figure that does not include the cost of the war; which will cost an eye watering £20 billion to the British taxpayer. so I ask the question, What kind of country am I living in when our governments, of all shades, are happy to shell out these amounts when our own population are having to go to food banks. Answers on a postcard please.

Once again an addled perception of foreign aid. These grants are not given out as cash to foreign companies, to do with as they will, it's granted with conditions attached - such as - must be used to buy weapons from British manufacturers, or in exchange for opening up their economy to structural adjustment programmes from the IMF, which only serve to benefit large international financial houses, at the not inconsiderable expense to the local populations.

These are effectively subsidies for already rich people who want your tax money.

For the year ending 2014 the Foreign Aid Budget is predicted to reach £12.6 Billion, which translates to 61% of the total "spending review " cuts announced by the Government , it's also £5.Million more than the Policing of our Country, this Country gives more in Foreign Aid than anyone else, we also give more to world charities than any Country, time to start looking after British people first, instead the Government and Media target the British poor, unemployed, disabled, and Pensioners....
