Evolutionary tale

First published in Letters

AS LABOUR-controlled Torfaen Council makes a further £11.2 million cut to the budget (bringing the total cut to £44.2 million!) I noticed on the front page of “Torfaen Talks” a photograph of Cllr Hunt and the dear leader Cllr Bob Wellington.

On the desk in front of them is a quote on display by Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change”.

How have these councillors responded to the vicious ideologically driven Con/Dem government cuts onslaught against our class?

They have not only meekly capitulated but willingly made cuts to public services which will impact on the very people they are supposed to represent! So where is the empathy, altruism, co-operation or mutual aid which are all factors in our Darwinian evolutionary development?

Indeed, they have shown no strength or intelligence!

I haven't seen that hilarious seventies leftie terminology in the letters page for weeks. Welcome back Mr Banfield.

'our class' lol. Where have yo been? Getting your grey boiler suit laundered or is it the Che Guevara beret this week? The councillors chose not to break the law. I don't agree with Capital Gains Tax but I pay it. Move on.

How have these councillors responded to the drive to reduce waste and uneccesary spending?

By instead cutting frontline services in order to blame "those nasty tories"

Terry - dont you think that the million spent on welsh language , empty flight to anglesey the layers and layers and layers of government down the WAG would have been better spent on the NHS.

Not to mention the three million a year on cardiff airport the WAG express the list goes on so write to Carwyn and ask why he wastes millions when people are dying on waiting list which have soared since 2009 !!

Terry I don't expect a answer but you could surprise me.

Terry write to the council and ask where the 4% hike that you received this year was going good luck I did write to the WAG and ask why they never passed on the money given to them by Westminster in order to freeze Newport council tax the reply " we have decided we had better uses for it" came back but when pushed would not elaborate!!
