Worst world cup

HAVING read the unnamed article headed “England’s worst World Cup”, I would just like to point out to the writer that in 1974 and 1978, England failed to qualify for the finals.

A jot worse, in my opinion, than this year.

In addition, unnamed writers in Welsh newspapers are in no position to gloat.

Wales last qualified in 1958.

Perhaps if the media didn't constantly refer to 1966 or insinuate that everyone in the country will get behind engerlund there might be a different reaction. As I said in response to another letter I am glad engerlund are coming home as early as possible.

I couldn't care less, I am still cheesed off with welsh Rugby in S Africa. I just wish I had backed up my bet that England would be out straight away, would have won a bomb ! They never turned up England didn't and there was no desire to play, it is the legacy of the premier league, that would NOT exist without the support of foreign players, come the time England have to put up they haven't anyone. They used Lampard who is on his way to retirement, what for a kick about ? they are over the hill or totally inexperienced. Rooney on his way to retirement too.

The sad thing is that at the moment, Wales probably have the best two player in the UK in Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey. We just don't have the depth of England.

I don't want to see a team GB in football, but I certainly think an England team with Ramsey and Bale would be one making through the group stage with ease.

The worst thing about this world cup by far. Is Adrian Chiles trying to be a presenter, laughable.

General quality of football has been fantastic though. Columbia, France and Germany playing some fantastic football.

Wales have no pretentions of being world beaters. We know we're a small country, soccer-wise, and any success is welcome, but any failure is unsurprising and not unexpected.

England however have so many chips on their shoulder they could open a timber yard.

If we can't laugh at our hapless neighbours for their perennial hubristic tendencies, what can we do? If we sympathise with them, we validate their pathetic expectations and brainless optimism.

I couldn't care less, 22 overpaid ladyboys.

My concern lays closer to home with the tragic comedy that is regional rugby.

I don't see why there is any expectation that any team from GB and Ireland will do well in a world cup, England in 1966 is an anomaly. Too many foreign players in the leagues is an argument that can only be considered for, say, the last few world cups, it can't be put forward for any of the others.

I feel the arrogance of failed England goalie Joe Hart destroyed the world cup for England when he let forth that bullying outburst against that poor ball boy in which he demanded to the totally innocent kid to give him "the effing ball". Is bullying by the wealthy and over privileged amongst the sort of 'values' that Cameron wishes to export across the world? Because if so such a sense of automatic entitlement a sure fire way to make the English unpopular!

At least its our comedy :) I agree its time we stopped trying to play rugby with our wallets and start playing Rugby with home-grown players and supporting them.

Yet another prime example of Argus editor Kevin Ward failing to counter blatant transphobia on our local news site. What 'excuse' do you have this time, supposedly non-politically biased Kev...?

Picking out a badly behaved footballer is like shooting fish in a barrel. Nationality or team is irrelevant. Give large sums of money to young, often uneducated, unsophisticated monkeys and convince them how priceless they are, and a balanced human being will often not be the end result.

I don't think (Hope!), Kevin doesn't start playing your PC games, we are up against a wall most of the time already with that nonsense. If you cannot stand the heat (Or maybe you void the kitchen anyway because its sexist)....
