ON SUNDAY 27th JULY 27,2014, St Margaret’s Church, Blackwood, held a Eucharist and armed forces services to pay tribute to our armed forces past and present, and also to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War 1.
The service was well supported by church members, the public, ex service personnel and local dignitaries.
Special thanks must go to Phil Coomer MBE, a former warrant officer in the Royal Regiment of Wales, for sounding The Last Post and Reveille.
I would also like to pay tribute to the choir of St Margaret’s, not only for their music but also for getting “stuck in” with the tea/coffee and biscuits in the church hall afterwards.
Finally, many thanks to the Blackwood Lodge of the Freemasons and to Blackwood Town Council for the financial support towards the excellent buffet at Blackwood Rugby Club.
St Margaret’s Church is open to all, so why not come along and join us, you will have a warm welcome?
