IN MY recent letter regarding Pontymoile School closure, I commented that no one from Torfaen County Borough Council attended the closure ceremonies. I was actually referring to the people at TCBC responsible for closing yet another school. I witnessed Councillor Neil Waite’s speech. It was delivered with pride and much emotion. I apologise for any offence to Cllr Waite and his family if any upset was caused. I still stand by my previous comments. I now notice the same body of people at TCBC are closing Pontnewynydd Primary, a school highly praised by Estyn. If the same level of enthusiasm was applied by TCBC to our children’s education as to school closures, the county would not be in Special Measures.
