The Tory party has always been the domain of the rich and privileged and they haven’t changed their spots now in spite of Cameron’s modern gloss.

They have lined the pockets of the super rich with tax cuts and to pay for this, the disabled, poor and sick have suffered draconian cuts.

Now, with the election just months away, we have more promises from Cameron.

For the middle and upper class, and a small minority of working class voters, he promises even more tax cuts.

For the working poor and millions of unemployed struggling to find their first job, he promises even more cuts to their benefits.

For the young, he plans restrictions on Jobseekers Allowance while the Bedroom Tax attacks the disabled and elderly.

In 1945, out of the ruins of war, Labour politicians created full employment and a Welfare State that was the envy of the world.

Now, we are lagging behind even some of the poorest countries in Europe in how we look after the most vulnerable in society.
