I SEE that our wonderful police went out of their way to help protesters bring the second Severn crossing to a standstill (Argus, October 13). A police spokesman is quoted as saying it was an appropriate place for protesters to gather while ensuring minimum disruption to motorists.

Protesters nor pedestrians are allowed on motorways, so why weren’t these people arrested and escorted off the motorway?

The Argus picture clearly shows traffic backed up and blocking three lanes. One motorist was stuck for 45 minutes, so how can the police claim to have kept traffic moving.

Even the TV companies got in on the act giving these people air time.

The French police wouldn’t have tolerated this.
