“HEARTLESS” is a fairly emotive word. I wonder if Torfaen Council has ever heard of it? Well, of course, it must have as its policy on cemetery memorabilia appears to be entirely based on it.
“Puritanical” is another word that was briefly in vogue during the 17th Century until the British public got wise and threw it into the Channel. Perhaps those starched collars in Torfaen might relax their ideology a little or risk a similar fate.
“Common sense” and “common decency” are terms which ideally should walk hand in hand with compassion.
Is Torfaen Council even dimly aware of this? Obviously not, even in the face of public outrage. Otherwise, surely its cruel and draconian decisions would not be so, shall we say, heartless and puritanical.
