THE NHS budget concern suffers from the ‘kitchen cupboard syndrome’ which has, I believe, been around for many years.

It is where one looks around one’s kitchen and realises that they need more space.

They then splash out on a new kitchen to get more cupboards, and lo and behold, within a couple of years, they realise they need more space ... In reality, one simply has to be more economical with what one has. The NHS budget does not require more money to be efficient and effective.

In the spirit of teamwork; the NHS and the public, need to address the problems of bed-blockers, caring for one’s family, one’s own health and exercise, developing one’s life purpose and accountability.

My guess is that this would free up about a third of demand on hospital beds, out-patients’ appointments, and reduce hospital litigation.

The problem of car parking, and funding for genetically or age-induced illnesses would be resolved.

Ah! I dream of a community approach to care.
