THE article in the The Newsdesk (Argus, 3rd Nov) by Maria Williams about inconsiderate neighbours makes for sober reading. But why close the house and board it up? It was the occupants who were the problem, not the building.
We are constantly being told that Wales has a housing shortage, so why deny a property to a homeless family because of the criminal activities of the previous tenants?
We read about shops and pubs staying empty for years on end frequently because the owners struggle to get planning permission for conversion to a house or flats.
Local councils and charities love to blame Cardiff or Westminster (usually the latter) for the plight of the homeless, yet the answer is often in their own back yard.
