C BRADLEY has a very low opinion of the people of Newport, and of Wales, apparently (Letters, December 3). He says the people of Wales “fell for (devolution) hook, line and sinker”. And he berates Newport’s MPs Jessica Morden and Paul Flynn, saying their election is “the fault of the people of Newport”.
But that’s democracy.
Unlike C Bradley, I don’t think local voters are fools. In each of these cases, they’ve made sound judgements. I hope Newport’s two excellent MPs are joined by many more Labour MPs next May, so we can replace the callous ConDems with a Labour government which will work hard for the many, not just a few.
Cllr Gez Kirby, Pontllanfraith
