IT’S great to see so many groups of Newport citizens and business people coming out of their shells at last, with good ideas and events to improve our city centre following decades of neglect by Newport Labour Council. We are seeing positive action from the Task Force, Newport Rises, Newport Now, Norse Group and Pill Residents etc, but where are the Newport “mocking” Labour supporters now?
Not so long ago, anybody suggesting (in the Argus) that Newport needed improving was accused of “moaning” by the Newport Labour group. We now read that Newport West MP Paul Flynn (Argus 20.1.15) admits Newport has been through a “screaming nightmare” in the past decade. Only one decade? That looks like a lot of “moaning”. Where was he when this needed saying?
I wonder if anybody can recall any “screaming nightmares” in Cwmbran or Cardiff shopping centres? Food for thought or what?
