I GET so angry when I hear Conservative MPs slating the NHS in Wales that I felt I had to write about my experience at Pontypool Hospital where I had a DEXA Bone Scan recently.
The three members of staff on the unit were so kind (even getting me a cup of coffee before the canteen opened!) and every one of them had a great sense of humour – while retaining true professionalism.
I also want to mention two members of staff I met outside the premises who pointed me in the right direction across the sprawling site! Again, really helpful and friendly and I get the impression this is the ethos right across the hospital.
We know there are problems within the NHS, but these are being made even worse by current government policies. We must not sell-off this jewel in our crown and only a Labour government can save it from wholesale privatisation.
The Tories opposed the creation of the NHS. Today they denigrate it, to soften the ground for their ultimate campaign to dismantle it. As long as there are people working within the NHS like those I met in Pontypool, we can be sure the people of Wales get the service they deserve from their own NHS.
