THE Lapwing, or Peewit as some people refer to them, is an endangered species. Yet, going back a few years, planning was applied for to build industrial units on the area that they inhabited.
By law, you are not allowed to disturb them, yet I didn’t hear a peep out of any of the organisations that are opposing the Circuit of Wales. I believe it’s the usual bias against anything with “motorcycle” on it. We badly need a proper race track in Wales and, as an enthusiast, I believe the figure of 75,000 visitors a year is an under estimate. One race will bring that number into Wales. If I lived nearer the track, I would be already advertising B&B and tours of the countryside. To say the area is teeming with wildlife is a nonsense.
