ON BEHALF of the residents of the Bishpool/Treberth estates I am complaining about the quality of service provided by Newport Transport regarding the 73 bus. We had a perfectly good service from the 62 bus and the Market Square terminal was convenient for the frail residents. Then the powers that be took off the 62 and replaced it with Chepstow bus, the 73.
Not only has this move actually rendered some elderly residents housebound as it’s a long walk to and from the railway station, but the bus is totally unreliable, and just doesn’t turn up a couple of times a week. I have written and spoken to the manager of the depot. I feel in future that if the bus doesn’t turn up, we take a taxi and send the bill to Newport Transport. Give us back our 62.
