UNLIKE Labour Cllr Nigel Dix, I have never shared a platform with Tories and UKIP members. During the two Welsh referendums, Cllr Dix was a leading figure within the ‘No’ campaign which included Tory and UKIP members.

Up in Scotland, Labour shared a “better together” platform with the Tories. It seems to me Labour and the Tories are very much alike when the Union is at risk.

Last year, Labour voted with the Tories on future budget cuts in public sector spending. They both want to spend £100 million on Trident, not reforming the Lords and keeping to the first past the post elections.

There is more to this election than red or blue; it’s not the Boat Race down the Thames. It’s not between Oxford or Cambridge elected politicians, it’s not American politics where only two parties get elected.

Plaid Cymru and the SNP are the only parties who are able to break up the posh old school way to do politics. While Labour cross swords with the Tories in public, they then share a cozy drink afterwards in the House of Commons bar.

I thank him for calling me Plaid’s spokesperson, as I want Wales to succeed and stand on its own feet.
