WHILE there is all this complaining and bad reports about the National Health Service and our local hospitals, we would like to thank the health service and our local hospital for a change and I’m sure many patients would back us up.

My husband was diagnosed in November last year with a tumour on his bowel. After seeing doctors and having tests, he was admitted to the Royal Gwent on March 11 and had an operation to remove the tumour and part of his bowel the next day. He is now recovering and has been given the good news that there is no more cancer.

The treatment and nursing care given was great and we can’t praise the doctors and nursing staff enough. The district nurses called every day to dress the sear he has and nothing was too much trouble for them. So, after all the bad press reports about the NHS, we thanks them all for their help from diagnosis to treatment and now recovery.
