WE all understand the financial pressures on companies from pension schemes, but to punish existing workers is not acceptable.
For those working at Tata Steel and in other companies, the thought that they will be forced to work to 65, instead of 60, is both cruel and harsh.
Currently, workers have the option of holding a ballot and striking if they wish.
However, days after their victory, the Tories have signalled that they will make this far harder.
While in government, the Liberal Democrats protected the rights of workers and unions against this Tory dogma.
With a majority, there is nothing stopping the Tories from railroading employee rights and trade unions.
With the Labour Party mired in internal squabbling, who will stand up for these rights now?
The Liberal Democrats have seen more than 13,500 new members since the election, including those who work at Tata Steel in Llanwern.
It appears that, more than ever, the Liberal Democrats will be standing up and fighting for these rights. Why not join us in that fight at libdems.org.uk/join.
