I READ with an increasing sense of unease about the body cameras to be worn by police officers in Newport’s Stow Hill ward.
I am confident that there are very valid reasons for this and we may shortly see positive results.
However, one enduring niggle remains – the recent phenomenon known as “selfies”.
Well after all, given free use of equipment, it's quite a temptation for even the most stalwart of our metropolitan guardians.
Shall we soon see pics labelled, “The suspect and I just before he got away” or “The muggers and me – spot the difference?”
Doubtless the canteen walls of the local nick will be festooned with such jolly snaps. Bravo!
Who said a policeman’s lot is not a happy one?
