MR FARINA-CHILDS asks “what Councillor Kirby and his fellow Labour councillors are proposing to do [about] the imminent closure of the civic centre and the possible closure of Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre?” (Argus, August 7).
It’s a matter of record that I and my fellow Labour Pontllanfraith councillors, Mike Adams and Colin Gordon, publicly opposed the proposed closure of Ty Pontllanfraith.
Ultimately, Caerphilly Council – including Mr Farina-Childs’s fellow nationalists –  voted in favour of closing the civic centre as a money-saving measure.
As for Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre, I don’t know anything about its possible closure.
I wonder what grounds Mr Farina-Childs has for his speculation?
