HOW on earth did Blaenau Gwent Council agree to fork out millions on a recycling scheme that is not fit for purpose in these valleys?
As well as the lorries that are too big for the narrow streets in the borough, a so-called trolliblock is proving difficult to manage for some older and disabled people.
There are already stories of kids using them to ride around on. The bag system only failed because the council crushed both blue and white bags in one lorry “after” the sorting had  been done by the residents.
These trolleys hold much less than one blue and one white bag so instead of enhanced recycling figures there will probably be less and fly tipping will probably increase. All that would have been needed was a third bag to make the bag system work.
Someone in the council should be held accountable and a remedy must be found before even more money is thrown into the rubbish.
