IT’S nice to see new businesses coming to Newport, but I would like to voice a cautionary note about the Mendalgief Retail Park entrance/exit.
At Christmas, it becomes a major problem to enter or exit the site. And now Halfords has gone and been replaced by a toy shop, this will mean Christmas traffic to the site will be increased considerably.
I think all the stores should band together to ask the council to construct an exit-only relief road at the top of the retail site,  where the old Halfords service bays used to be.
This road would be no more than 20 yards long, but would benefit the shops, shoppers and the Newport economy no end.
