I MUST say I’m really disappointed with some of the stuff posted on social media about the John Lewis advert.
I’m not talking about the song, or even the advert as such but rather, people’s reaction to the point it’s making.
Elderly people alone at Christmas, without their loved ones who may be dead or live overseas, are vulnerable and just one act of kindness could make their day.
I’m sure that was the point and yet, so many people are commenting that an old man spying on a young girl is encouraging paedophiles? Really?
Are you sure that’s not just society’s warped mind, encouraged by witch hunts in the press of innocent people?
I’m sure that man in the moon, were he real, fought for his country in a World War, and haven’t we been thankful for that bravery today?
So personally I commend John Lewis for celebrating Christmas, by reminding us that no matter the generation gap, we can all learn from each other.
