THE three senior officials with Caerphilly council have been suspended on full pay for nearly three years and with their wages and pension contributions, together with those wages and pension contributions of those ‘acting up’, I would have thought that this must have cost the local taxpayers the best part of £3 million.
I would also think that this figure must equate to several pounds added on to the council tax bill of each property within the borough.
As a local taxpayer whose family has been paying either council tax or rates under this authority for nearly 200 years, it is my opinion that it is the council taxpayers who should decide their fate and whether they should return to their roles on the council.
Whatever the decision, I will make mine in the ballot box and it certainly will not be for Labour, who initially approved their 20 per cent pay rises.
