JONATHAN Williams (UKIP) has stated that “On July 8 the Socialist Group of MEPS (including Labour) voted in an amendment regarding TTIP. This allows corporate investors the right to sue governments for any laws disfavouring their right under TTIP to invest in what are now publicly funded national entities, such as the NHS.” (South Wales Argus, April 11, 2016).
Well I checked out the amendment voted on  (amendment 117) and it says that “foreign investors while benefiting from no greater rights than domestic investors, and to replace the ISDS system with a new system for resolving disputes between investors and states which is subject to democratic principles and scrutiny, where potential cases are treated in a transparent manner by publicly appointed, independent professional judges in public hearings and which includes an appellate mechanism, where consistency of judicial decisions is ensured, the jurisdiction of courts of the EU and of the Member States is respected, and where private interests cannot principles public policy objectives” (www.votewatch.eu)(July 9, 2015).
Perhaps Jonathan Williams (UKIP) doesn’t understand that the current ISDS will be replaced by an entirely new system where the public sector will have a greater power over the private one? Perhaps he could explain why he stated otherwise? Hopefully it was ignorance and surely not him being economical with the truth for political ends?
