ALTHOUGH I feel some sort of sympathy for the two schools hit by fires since New Year’s Day, both in the Borough of Torfaen, may I please through your pages remind the generous people who are organising ‘fun-runs’ and the like to raise money for the said schools, of my experience, working for a council, where part of my job was to asses such related damage and report back to the director of my department the anticipated cost of repairs, initiate immediate repairs utilising reserves that ALL councils have for such events then the full cost recovered from insurance policies appertaining to the specific claim.
Don’t the very well intentioned fund raisers realise that Torfaen Borough have contingency plans for this type of occurrence, all insurance backed/covered, so they will be reimbursed for every notebook, pencil, rubber and felt tip pen?
So my question is, where will the collected money go?
What is it actually for?
