IAN Duncan Smith’s hypocrisy is breathtaking. Throwing himself into the ring in the debate on leaving the European Union, he sheds crocodile tears for the lowest paid, blaming immigration for the downward pressure on wages, for stretching our healthcare and housing resources to breaking point.
Hang on a minute, wasn’t it Ian Duncan Smith’s party that implemented savage cuts to disability and housing benefits, which have left so many in despair?
The growing numbers of homeless on our streets, and the children dependent on food banks who go to school hungry, should not see Europe as the source of their suffering.
It is Duncan Smith’s heartless Tory government that is driving ordinary people into poverty not seen since the 1930s.
