A man of action

SINCERE thoughts and sympathy to Mrs Carmel Townsend and family for their sad loss of husband and father Ed Townsend, St Julians, Newport, Lib Dem Councillor. Ed was our hardest working Councillor,campaigning and helping many local residents.
I recall his first St Julians community meeting as chairman,when he brought a special orderly approach to all subjects and questions raised by local residents. 
In the most recent Lib Dem newsletter dropped in our letterboxes, Ed is pictured alongside a massive tractor at the Glebelands long delayed housing project with the caption “Councillor Ed Townsend was there to check on progress”. He was a councillor of action, not reaction! 
Whoever follows him on Newport City Council will have a very big task to match his energy and dedication.
