NEVER let the grass grow under your feet; haven’t we all heard that encouraging advice? Well, Newport Council has certainly not taken it on board, limiting its grass-mowing programmed to at best one month. Nothing to do with ecology, everything to do with finance. These people would rather cut costs than cut verges, or indeed anything. They have excuses, explanations, reassurances, but be forewarned; beware the snake in the grass.
