IT was good to see the community events that took place in the Abersychan Ward these last two weeks: the Millennium Hall Community Association organised the third scarecrow themed Abersychan Festival, which included various other activities culminating in the judging of the Scarecrow Competition. The judges had a hard task in finding the winner of the many and imaginative scarecrows that created so much interest around the ward. Thanks also to our ward councillors, Gwyneira Clark, Giles Davies, and Wayne Tomlinson for funding the tea parties to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, which everyone seemed to enjoy, and for funding the Garnsychan Lunch Club, open to all seniors, which 80 people attended. None of the events would have possible without the hard work of the dedicated group of volunteers at the Millennium Community Hall, who give up so much time throughout the years, and even more so during the Festival week. It is good to see our community joining together to mark this special event, which again goes to show that this community spirit is alive and well in our part of the valley. Well done to all concerned.
