JEFF Cuthbert has just been elected as Police and Crime Commissioner and he is already warning that half of his forces’ budget will have to be raised through local taxation by 2021.
Gwent’s cut in staffing levels is the second highest of any force in Wales and England.
We must now demand the devolution of policing to Wales before our forces are cut even further.
Devolved policing would mean getting rid of the Police and Crime Commissioner job and using that money to instead fund frontline staff.
