IN THE cold and draughty (Debenham’s) Newport city bus station on a dank and drizzly Tuesday (7th February) at approximately 5.45pm, a St Julians/Christchurch arrived with all the passenger windows totally “steamed-up” inside, obviously due to the disgusting lack of ventilation.
The next moment a Newport/Caerleon bus pulled in alongside for passengers to alight and all the inside passenger-windows were “crystal-clear”, obviously thanks to the good ventilation and air conditioning on this bus.
In the media, we are warned and reminded of the nasty bugs to be found in our homes, on door handles, toilets and taps etc., and yet no protection or warnings appear of spreading germs on too many unhealthy buses, especially this time of the year with coughs and colds on the increase - dangerous for bus passengers, especially vulnerable children and senior citizens!
