CAERPHILLY County Borough Council one percent council tax increase is seen by labour as a shining example of good financial governance.
However, the reality is somewhat different. A one percent tax increase will raise nine hundred thousand pounds a year, yet the current administration have spent two and half million on the senior officer pay scandal and four hundred thousand pounds on consultancy fees regarding a taxpayer funded cinema, making a grand total of two million nine hundred pounds, which, equates to a three percent council tax increase. Without these huge loses there would be no need to increase council tax. The reality is that the people will pay for the mistakes made by this administration.
