ONE wonders how many more of our traditions are to be consigned to history by the politically correct brigade.

I list a few to illustrate: Baa Baa black sheep. Changed because it was thought to be racist. Now recited as, Baa Baa rainbow sheep.

Some primary schools have decided that the Nativity play is thought inappropriate in today’s secular environment and have discontinued this form of celebration: presumably in order to allay the fears of other faiths who may feel excluded.

To cap it all, Cadbury have decided to remove the term Easter from their eggs and the annual ‘Easter Egg Trail’ has been altered to ‘Cadbury’s Great British Egg Hunt’. That particular move has even prompted the Prime Minister to intervene.

Call me old fashioned but as a native Welshman I have no problem with faith groups celebrating their own religious culture: indeed: I rejoice in my country’s diversity however, I take issue with these commentators who seek to change our long established practices.

May I wish you all a very happy....er... Chocolate!
