I AM WONDERING if anyone can help me with a sort of enigma I have with the flock of birds which gather on my roof everyday waiting to be fed?
From 9am to 12pm they are there most days. Generally it takes them a while to fly down and gorge on the bread. The biggest bunch are pigeons followed by a pair of magpies and some crows. The odd seagull pops in now and then. I have noticed this gap between landing and eating, for some time now, but in the last few days they haven’t touched a crust and it is littering my garden. I am wondering if the phrase ‘pecking order’ applies?
They are still on the roof at the same times, the pigeons that is, but haven’t seen the others. So, the food is still there, the pigeons are still there, but none of them eating.
Can anyone explain this as usually they gobble the lot quickly, all mixed together which intrigues me.
