WITH reference to our newly launched Vision and some associated literature, the Newport Independents Party would like to make clear that our assertion that the councillors and candidates of the other political parties have signed contracts to support their parties, was directed at a number of political parties, but not all parties.
We accept that certain parties, such as the Liberal Democrats, do not have such contracts and, prior to the launch of our Vision and associated literature, we had stated in printed flyers and on social media that “some other candidates” had signed contracts with their parties.
We would like to thank those who have brought the matter to our attention and apologise for any misunderstanding that may have been caused. We hope this clarifies our position.
Can we once again wish all candidates the very best for the forthcoming elections.
One of our key pledges to the people of Newport is to admit if we are wrong, without entering into the traditional silly games and name calling. We hope that the above should go some way to underline our commitment to be honest, open and accountable.
Kevin Whitehead
Party Leader,
Newport Independents Party
