WE KNOW that Newport City Labour council has fooled the public many times, and now it looks like a member of the public is also trying to fool the Newport public!
I have lived in the “same town and country” longer than Ann Poyser (Argus 16.5.17) and like many Newport citizens I have a good memory of the Labour council’s neglect and destruction of many parts of Newport before the “Tories’ cruel cuts”.
Newport was a thriving town 50 years ago on a par with Cardiff, enjoying tourists, visitors, shoppers etc. from across the country, the Valleys, including Cwmbran and from Cardiff!
Why did Newport city council allow Newport to fall by the wayside, while Cardiff, Cwmbran, Swansea, Lanelli, Bridgend, Ebbw Vale Festival Centre etc. prospered not only with excellent shopping centres, but also great top notch sporting facilities?
Why did Newport Labour council sit on their hands when Newport County AFC was dumped out of Somerton Park?
The Newport Labour council should offer the county a new stadium in addition to the freedom of Newport to Manager Michael Flynn-football generates money to the local purse-did Leader Debbie Cox see the attendance at the Notts County match?
P.S. Ann Poyser (letter 11.5.17) should try the “Knotweed Solution”outfit.
