HERE is my reply to Ann Poyser, Stockton Road, Newport. Comments made by Jeremy Corbyn in an interview just days before the General Election claiming he would “deal” with student debt have sparked a fiery debate about Labour promises to young voters.

It was widely reported at the time that the leader had “hinted” that he would eradicate historic debt for thousands of recent university leaders. Here is what Corbyn told NME in that controversial interview just six days before the election.

“Yes, there is a block of those that currently have a massive debt, and I’m looking at ways that we could reduce that, ameliorate that, lengthen the period of paying it off, or some other means of reducing that debt burden.”

The comments made were directly aimed at current and future university students, as a direct target to increase his vote. Labour policy that is in direct opposite with Carwyn Jones Welsh Labour policy of increasing student fees.
