CLLR Debbie Wilcox talked of open discussions and consultation with interested parties.
How many residents of Newport City Homes (NCH) or the tax and rate payers were consulted before our council symbolically washed their hands of tax paid for social housing?
Extracts from NCH reasoning for changes:
“Current rules are considered to be too restrictive in relation to the way in which NCH need to carry out their business”
“Council consent would not be required for these minor administrative changes.”
“Then the council would be relinquishing all control, at both board and shareholder level and would have no direct influence over the future direction of NCH.”
“Any future rule changes would not require prior council approval.”
The slice by slice acquisition of social residential properties continues and now the blade is being sharpened by our council.
Subtle changes over years has taken the control out of the hands of those who paid to build the houses, now further changes will remove control from todays residents.
The changes were agreed by council on September 26, 2017.
