I and many users of leisure centres would endorse Cllr Kevin Etheridge's proposal of a public vote on their futures. I see the report which was endorsed by cabinet listed 4 strategic centres: Risca, Newbridge, Caerphilly and Bargoed / Aberbargoed so I would like to ask the cabinet member responsible to: Confirm the centres at Pontllanfraith and Cefn Forest will be at a disadvantage because they are not tied into a school directly, and not listed as a strategic centre. How much weight will be placed on health, wellbeing and education and can you define the scoring mechanism the cabinet and officers will use ? Will the children of the upper Islwyn constituency be placed at a disadvantage or is the intention to force them to go to Newbridge? Your deputy leader has already stated we cannot go on running the service like we have because of austerity, and what if the consultation only produces a response rate of 10% to 15%'I assume you will still go ahead anyway? You will write to all schools please confirm they will consult parents/ pupils will be consulted by each school? Finally why can't every ratepayer be consulted by a public vote in a ballot, why was this rejected by the Labour cabinet?
