GOOD to see D Harvey back in print, this time about the childish antics at the recent council meeting.

Just to put the matter in perspective, all the parties are the same and it is not just the Con/Libs who perform.

You should have seen Sir Harry there when Labour was in power, and Bob Bright is pretty good at witty retorts, too.

Regardless of the issues under discussion, councillors see this monthly event as a sort of national sport in which they can score points to enhance their ‘street cred’. I must admit that attending a meeting by all citizens should be compulsory for a good laugh.

Schoolchildren used to come each month to be given an introductory talk on local government, before seeing for themselves the antics of our elected representatives.
