MAY WE through your letters page, thank everyone who supported us when we were concerned about the proposals for our homes at Sid Griffiths Court, Garndif-faith, Pontypool.

We are grateful indeed to our Member of Parliament, the Rt Hon Paul Murphy MP, Torfaen’s Member of the National Assembly, Ms Lynne Neagle AM, the councillors of the Torfaen ward of Abersychan, the councillors for the Pontypool Comm-unity Council wards of Garndiffaith, Varteg and Cwmavon, local traders and the community at large. We would also commend Katey Pigden of the Pontypool Free Press, who worked tirelessly on our behalf. May we particularly thank Cllr Lewis Jones, Torfaen council’s Older Persons Champion and Ruth Marks MBE, the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales. Without the support of such valiant people, we would have been isolated and without voice. We feel very honoured indeed to live in a community which cares so deeply for its older people.

We feel most definitely that we have achieved the outcome that we desired and we now look forward to the improvements to our homes, as required by the Welsh Housing Quality Standards.

The Residents of Sid Griffiths Court, Garndiffaith, Pontypool
