I FAIL to see why Helen Aesa is so shocked at the proposal of adding two more tunnels to those already piercing the Brynglas area of Newport.

Some form of relief to the mayhem that is the daily congestion suffered on the main artery into and out of Wales is LONG overdue.

It would seem that the option of a Southern relief motorway is dead and buried, so the only viable option is the widening of what is already there.

As with any major public construction project, compulsory purchase of homes is regrettable and there has to be some empathy with those losing their homes, although, they should be well compensated.

As for her assertion that it will cause more pollution, then surely traffic at a near standstill and lingering in a given bottleneck has got to cause more pollution than traffic that is able to pass briskly by.

That is a major problem with Newport, it is not so much a destination, but a gateway to the whole of South Wales, and therefore MUST be bypassed as efficiently as possible!
